Date Granola Recipe
Recipe Ingredients:
2 cup Rolled oats (312 g) 1/2 cup Wheat germ (60 g) 1/2 cup Chopped pitted (118 ml) dates, softened in 1/4 cup hot water (59 ml) 2 tbsp Sesame seeds (30 ml) 3 tbsp Blanched almonds, chopped (45 ml)

Naturally sweet, this granola is also delicious sprinkled over plain nonfat yogurt. Preheat oven to 325 F (165C). Combine all ingredients in a shallow baking pan. Bake for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Cool and store in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze individual portions in zip-lock bags for longer storage. PER 1/2 Cup (118 ml) serving: calories 220, protein 8 g, carbohydrate 36 g, fat 6 g, calories from fat 24%, dietary fiber 1 g, cholesterol 0 mg, sodium 4 mg, potassium 321 mg. Joslin Exchanges: 2 bread/starch, 1 fat.
