Hummus Recipe
Recipe Ingredients:
1 can chickpeas - (15 oz), drained, reserving 1 tbspn of the liquid 3 garlic cloves - (to 6), minced 1 tbsp sesame tahini Juice of 1 lemon 2 tsp olive oil 1 pinch cayenne pepper
Recipe Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in a blender until smooth, using the 1 tablespoon chickpea liquid if necessary to make a smooth spread.
This recipe yields 12 servings. Serving size: 2 tablespoons.
Exchanges Per Serving: 1/2 Carbohydrate.
Nutrition Facts: Calories 49; Calories from Fat 17; Total Fat 2g; Saturated Fat 0g; Cholesterol 0mg; Sodium 33mg; Carbohydrate 7g; Dietary Fiber 2g; Sugars 1g; Protein 2g.
Comments: Much less fat than the store or deli versions. Serve with your favorite crackers or whole-wheat pita bread.
