Lauren's Salsa Recipe


Recipe Ingredients:

1 can tomato sauce - (8 oz)
1 jar favorite salsa - (16 oz)
= (salsa used as a base)
2 tbsp olive oil
6 roma tomatoes - (to 8), chopped
1 medium red onion, chopped
1 bunch green onions, chopped
1 bunch cilantro, chopped
1 fresh lemon
4 jalapeño peppers - (to 6)
Salt, to taste
Garlic powder, to taste

 

Recipe Instructions:

In large bowl, mix tomato sauce, salsa and olive oil. Chop roma tomatoes, red onion, green onions, and cilantro, and add to the bowl. Squeeze juice from lemon into the salsa.

Cut jalapeños in half lengthwise and discard seeds. Finely chop the jalapeño pepper and add to bowl. Mix and add salt and/or garlic powder to taste.

Serve with baked tortilla chips or reduced-fat wheat crackers. Salsa also can be used as a marinade, or topping for grilled chicken or fish.
